Clubs & Activities
Stanton St John W.I. is a well established group and currently has 28 members. The majority are from Stanton St John but we now have 5 members from Forest Hill.
We usually meet at 7.30pm on the 3rd Tuesday of each month in Stanton St John Village Hall for a talk or event although we also arrange visits and outings.
At Christmas we went to Waddesdon Manor and in the summer had a boat trip on the river from Folly Bridge to Abingdon followed by a delicious pub meal. We also held a Garden Party evening hosted by Jean Read, one of our newer members.
We got together to keep fit during last Spring and Summer by walking, swimming and cycling in a competitive Triathlon and some of us enjoyed it so much we have continued exercising together.
We are affiliated to the Oxfordshire W.I. and have access to a variety of events organised by them. For example last year some of us visited Wisley and attended shows and talks from hilarious speakers, including a Drag Queen. We had an evening of Magic and Puddings, a day learning Watercolour Painting techniques, learning about Spare Parts on the NHS and having a Day of Dance with Zumba and Belly Dancing .Group meetings encourage us to met up with other local W.I.s such as Horton cum Studley, Islip, Beckley, Holton and Waterperry, and Quarry. These meetings are often great fun and an opportunity to meet a wider range of like-minded women.
We are always pleased to have visitors and plan several Open Meetings to encourage non-members to come along.
