Celebrating 100 Years of Village Life
24th & 25th August 2014, 1 – 6pm
This year, celebrating 100 years of village life, the well-established Stanton St John Festival will appeal to all ages and interests.
For a look into the past; a local World War 1 Exhibition, an original 1889 wagon being re-united with its place of origin, vintage vehicles featuring a line up of cars and bikes dating back over the last 100 years and a chance to chat with characters from Stanton St John’s past and take part in a village treasure hunt.
For culture vultures; an art & craft exhibition with live demonstrations including pottery, lace-making and weaving, a vintage fashion show & sale in aid of Helen and Douglas House, a book shop and live music. Also there will be poems, photos, stories and artefacts to illustrate village life.
For garden enthusiasts; a garden shop, a flower display and open gardens.
For children of all ages; birds of prey (displays and a chance to get close up and personal), sports, crafts, activities, old fashioned games and storytelling.
And who can resist the fabulous village cream teas, local ales, goodies from the country market and delicious Indian food?
